Why F1 Visa holders cannot file Online?

     - F1 visa holders are considered to be Non Resident for the first five years and they have to file their return as Non Resident. They can use form 1040 NR/1040 NR-EZ. This form has to be mailed or can be submitted directly to the nearest IRS Office accessible to you.

     - F1 visa holders, who do not have any wages still need to file form 8843 every single year.

     - Non Residents cannot take standard deductions, but F1 visa holders can based on US - India Treaty.

     - Non Residents cannot claim their dependents but F1 visa holders can, based on certain US-India treaty.

     - F1 Visa holders do not have to pay Social Security and Medicare Taxes. (So in case your employer have deducted them you can claim them back through your employer or need to file another form with IRS.

     - F1 visa holders/Non Residents are not eligible to claim Tuition fee even if they get 1098 T from their school.
